Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Umkomaas, Buddy Scuba

When you arrive at Buddy Scuba you will be welcomed and shown to your accommodation. You can spend the day relaxing on the beach or at the pool. That evening you will meet your hosts and team for the week, and do a briefing about the plans for the upcoming days. Any gear rental requirements will be fitted, and kit up for the following day. In the evening enjoy dinner at Buddy Scuba.

Day 2: Dive Aliwal Shoal

This will give you a chance to check your gear. Join us for low seas and high spirits as we visit the famous Aliwal Shoal reef 5 km offshore. Rated as one of the top locations worldwide for viewing sharks in their natural environment. After diving you will return to Buddy Scuba, relax by the pool, and dinner will be served.

Day 3: Final dives on Aliwal, and then travel to Port Edward, Jolly Roger Adventures

Final dives on the shoal in the morning, then pack up and self drive to Port Edward a mere hour and a half drive away. On arrival you will be settled into your accommodation. You can spend the afternoon at the beach, or by the pool, or simply on the patio enjoying the view. Dinner will be served at Jolly Roger Adventures.

Day 4 to 8: Ocean Safari

Each morning over breakfast you will be briefed on the Sardine run movements. Boats launch from Port Edward at +/- 7am each morning,  a shuttle will take you to and from the beach each day. In the afternoon we return to shore where you can enjoy some of the local activities or relax at your accommodation . Dinner each night will be served at Jolly Roger Adventures.

Day 9: Farewells

Breakfast will be served, there after a leisurely pack up, and head home. 

 

 

Note that the above itinerary is weather dependent. Should there be days where the boat is unable to launch, there are many activities along the South Coast to explore. 

 

The Riverside Beach Bar, offering wake boarding, water skiing, paddle boarding, tubing, river cruises, delightful cocktails, and much more; leisurely hikes at the Umtamvuna Nature Reserve a mere 500 metres from Jolly Roger Lodge; Beaver Creek Coffee Estate; Mac Banana (featuring restaurants, a spa, and other dare devil activities); The 3 reptile parks of the South Coast: Pure Venom Snake Park; Riverbend Crocodile Farm; and Crocworld Crocodile Sanctuary; just a short drive away you can visit the Oribi Gorge which features a nature reserve, the highest Gorge Swing in the world, Zipline over the Gorge, the highest abseil, grade 2 – 4 White Water Rapids, plus a 84 meter suspension bridge. Also on offer are three of South Africa’s top ten golf courses as well as 8 more courses that are not only challenging but very rewarding to play. And for those seeking something else, the Wild Coast Sun is also just a few kilometres away. 

 

Please note that inclement weather resulting in the boat being unable to launch does not result in refunds for that particular day. Any activities over and above the itinerary is for your own costs.
